Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners. Cookies cannot harm your device and do not contain personally identifiable information on their own.

2. How We Use Cookies

NikoSEO uses a minimal number of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking of any kind. The cookies present on this website fall into two categories: essential cookies required for the site to function, and analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site.

3. Cookies We Use

Cookie Type Purpose Duration
_ga Analytics Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated client identifier 2 years
_ga_WHZ41MS4Y4 Analytics Used by Google Analytics 4 to persist session state 2 years
_gid Analytics Distinguishes users — stores and updates a unique value for each page visited 24 hours
_gat Analytics Used to throttle the request rate to Google's servers 1 minute
CookieConsent Essential Stores your cookie consent preference so you are not asked again on every visit 1 year

We do not currently set any advertising, retargeting, or social media cookies.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymised data about how visitors interact with our website, including:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • How you arrived at the site (e.g. search engine, direct, referral)
  • General geographic location (city/country level — not precise location)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Anonymised IP address

This data is processed by Google on servers that may be located outside Australia, including in the United States. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not use Google Analytics to collect personally identifiable information, and we do not combine analytics data with any other data that could identify you.

5. What We Do Not Use

The following tracking technologies are not currently installed on this website:

  • Google Ads / Google Tag Manager conversion tracking
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag
  • TikTok Pixel
  • Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, or any session recording tools
  • Any affiliate or retargeting cookies

If any of these are added in the future, this Cookie Policy will be updated before they are activated, and your consent will be sought where required.

6. Your Cookie Choices

You have the right to choose whether to accept or decline non-essential cookies. When you first visit our website, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept all cookies or decline non-essential cookies.

You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site, which will trigger the consent banner again.

Opt out of Google Analytics: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available for all major browsers.

Opt out via browser settings: Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their Privacy or Security settings. You can view, delete, or block cookies at any time. Below are links to instructions for common browsers:

Note that disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use this website — all features will continue to work normally.

7. Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want your browsing activity tracked. Our website does not currently respond to DNT signals, as there is no universal standard for how websites should respond to them. You can use the opt-out methods in Section 6 above to limit tracking.

8. Changes to This Policy

We will update this Cookie Policy whenever we add new cookies or tracking technologies to this website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Where new cookies involve processing your personal data, we will seek fresh consent before activating them.

9. Contact Us

If you have any questions about how we use cookies, email contact@nikoseo.com.au.
